Q & A

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

IPL (intense pulsed light) delivers flashes of light to the skin which are absorbed by the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft. The light travels down to the hair and causes the coagulation(hardening) of the bulb so that the hair cannot regrow.

Is IPL safe for all skin types?

Not all hair colours and skin types provide effective results. Those with dark skin colour unfortunately cannot use IPL as it can discolour their skin.

How does IPL work to reduce pigmentation and Acne?

IPL delivers scattered light at a specific wavelength and targets melanin (pigmented areas) and haemoglobin ( blood vessels ). This can reduce pigmentation and destroy the bacteria that causes Acne.

Is IPL the same as Laser Hair Removal?

IPL has many wavelengths that covers big areas, Laser only has 3 wavelengths. IPL is the acronym for intense pulse light. It has lots of benefits and can be used in many ways. It is used most as a hair removal tool but also to remove spider veins, improve skin texture and pigmentation. It will help reduce acne and even remove some of the signs of sun damage.

How does IPL rejuvenate my skin?

IPL causes a minor thermal injury to the collagen in your skin. The body responds immediately to repair the damage by increasing the level of collagen that it naturally produces. The new collagen then helps to fill out any fine lines. The infrared speeds up the healing process.

How many sessions will I need of IPL laser hair removal?

6 – 12 sessions recommended

Does it hurt?

The pain is commonly described as a pinging on the skin with an elastic band and a warm feeling. First session is most painful as you are not used to it. IPL is used as the less painful hair removal treatment.
